(Seychelles News Agency) - The fourth Seychelles-India Day event kicked off on Friday, including the inauguration of the Fun and Food Fair that runs through Sunday.

A culinary cookery show, a free musical gala night and the launching of Seychelles-India Day commemorative stamps are some of the activities planned for this year’s three-day celebration.

The Indian High Commissioner to the Seychelles, Sanjay Panda, told visitors to the Food and Fun Fair to “soak in this atmosphere and get into the cultural journey over the next three days,” adding that “this is something that cannot be done without tasting the food.”

“Build up your appetite as there are more culinary delights coming over the next few days,” said Panda.

Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture, Alain St. Ange told the Indian Community members gathered that: “You are our partners in culture and it is through culture that we will keep on defending that melting point that makes the Seychellois people who we are.”

St. Ange added that India is one of the five branches that have contributed to make Seychelles the melting pot of cultures that it is today.
