“This is the perfect chance to represent Seychelles” - Miss Seychelles Contestant 10 Michaela Rosette
(Seychelles News Agency) - She is one of the youngest contestant taking part in the Miss Seychelles…Another World 2014 beauty pageant and she may come across as shy, but Michaela Rosette is ready to face what she has described as ‘a once in a lifetime opportunity.’
While her mum and friends have been the driving force to get her to take part in the pageant Rosette also had her own motive to do something positive with her life.
The past three months have been packed with all sorts of preparations to groom the 12 contestants, an adventure that has turned out to be not as relaxing as they thought but surely an enriching experience.
“The training has not been that easy and I have learnt to make a lot of sacrifices,” Rosette told SNA adding that at times she felt discouraged but has kept her head up high and persevere to achieve what she had set out to do.
The past months have also been a time of discovery especially through visits to some of the islands of the archipelago like Aride, which few Seychellois have had the chance to visit.
“It was breathtaking …an incredible moment,” she said.
Being a Miss Seychelles contestant surely brings about a lot of attention especially through the media.
For Michaela the idea of being popular is a good thing for she believes that it is her once in a life time chance adding that she is kind of loving the feeling.
A resident of Glacis, a northern district of the main Seychelles island of Mahé, Rosette has just joined the world of work in the tourism industry more precisely at one of the country’s destination management companies, “Creole Travel Services.”
The Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley fan who enjoys swimming also cares about the environment.
“If crowned Miss Seychelles…Another World 2014, I plan to help in the conservation efforts of Seychelles biodiversity,” Rosette told SNA.
With three days remaining Contestant number 10 is wishing all the contestants of Miss Seychelles….Another World 2014 the best of luck.
“I know that it will not be easy, especially on the day itself when the pressure starts to kick in but I firmly believe we can all make it,” she confided to SNA adding that her wish is for all the contestants to remain united and continue to support each other even after the pageant ends.
Having had the courage to participate in such a contest Michaela is encouraging other Seychellois girls to take part in the future.
“This is the perfect chance to be recognized as a Seychellois representing your country,” she concludes.
