(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles is often considered the ultimate getaway, with year-round warm weather, an endless supply of sand and sea, and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world

But one visitor to the balmy islands has no intention of resting on his laurels. 

Belgian-born football player Simon Mignolet, who is a goalkeeper for English Premier League team Liverpool, is determined to keep in top form during his summer holidays.

Mignolet shared a picture of his early morning beach run on Monday to his 1.3 million Facebook fans and 400,000 Instagram followers, along with a string of other images of sun, sand and sea.

He has a reason to be determined: the goalie may be feeling a little up against the ropes since Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently signed Loris Karius as goalkeeper and assigned him the number one jersey previously worn by Brad Jones, who left in 2015.

Judging from his social media accounts, it seems the Belgian footballer has been spending plenty of time on the beach, whether going for a run or working on his tan, as well as taking in some of the splendid sights of the Seychelles capital and port of Victoria.

Mignolet, with his smiling wife Jasmien Claes by his side, also took a helicopter trip to the archipelago’s second-largest island of Praslin, according to a collage of four photos he posted on Instagram on Monday.

When Mignolet returns to Liverpool FC it remains to be seen if he will be able to claw back ground from Karius as their manager Jurgen Klopp’s first choice in goalkeepers, so fans will be hoping the player will return well-rested, in good spirits and still in good shape.

Premier League football stars seem to be out for the best spot to spend their summer holidays ahead of the new season and Seychelles is among the choices. There has been some speculation that Arsenal footballer Hector Bellerin is also in the Seychelles this week for his summer break. Unlike Mignolet, Bellerin has been cryptic about his whereabouts, but several fans claimed to recognise his surroundings.

The Indian Ocean island destination has played host to a stream of honeymoons and romantic getaways for famous faces, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their honeymoon in 2011.
