(Seychelles News Agency) - Sandra, Lana and Regi claimed the top prizes at this year’s Cable Tune Awards, the Seychelles’ leading music awards where the public chooses their favourite mobile ring back tone artists of the year and the best videos on the Vibes show.
The 5th Cable Tunes Awards were hosted at the Espace complex in the islands' capital Victoria in a big party last night as a tropical downpour and thunder caused technical problems and prevented the live broadcast on the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation’s 'Vibes' TV music show.
The music awards were recorded and will be broadcast tonight on the SBC, while the winners picked by a nation-wide public vote by SMS to choose the most popular singers and songs of the Indian Ocean islands.

According to the daily newspaper, the Cable Tunes has paid over 200 thousand Seychelles rupees, which is around 15 thousand dollars, to the islands’ pop stars this year.
The percentage of royalty, according to Duncan may reach 50% depending on how many Cable Tunes are listed under an artist’s name.

Latest statistics available on the Seychelles National Bureau of Statistics website for the first quarter of 2014 suggest that there are 138,451 mobile accounts amongst the Seychellois people.
Interestingly enough this is more than the Indian Ocean island nation’s population of around 90,000 people.
