Seychelles St Michel qualifies next round of CAF Confederation Cup
(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles premier league football club and reigning Intelvision Cup winner St Michel United, qualified for the first round of the Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup today, after winning on penalty shoot-out against Madagascar’s team ASSM Elgeco Plus in Antananarivo.
Today’s match in Antananarivo which ended 2-1 in favour of Madagascar’s Elgeco Plus, is the same score which St Michel United had beaten the Malagasy team in its home match at ‘Stad Linite’ Seychelles main stadium, last Saturday.
Penalty shoots were needed as both teams had scored 3-3 on aggregate after their two preliminary matches.
Seychelles St Michel came out stronger in the end to emerge as the winner against ASSM Elgeco plus on the score of 7-6.
This puts an end to ASSM Elgeco Plus' chances to go further in the Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup competition.
As for St Michel United’s players their next challenge will be against Zimbabwe’s Howe Mine as they proceed to the first round of the competition.
