Seychellois nationals deported from Kenya due in court
(Seychelles News Agency) - Two Seychellois nationals will appear in court on Monday where an application will be made to have them remanded on charges of conspiracy to import a controlled drug and for the importation of a controlled drug, said the National Drugs Enforcement Agency (NDEA).
The two Seychellois were arrested on February 12 at Seychelles’ international airport at Pointe Larue, on the eastern coast of Mahe, the main island, the NDEA said.
The two Seychellois were deported to the 115-island archipelago in the western Indian Ocean onboard a Kenya Airways flight from the capital, Nairobi.
No further details were given by the agency when contacted by SNA.
The Star identified the two men as Nelson Domingue and Nedy Micock.
According to the Coastweek Newspaper Limited, the two men, along with two South African citizens, were arrested in an apartment in Mombasa by the Kenyan police and were in possession of unconfirmed quantity of hard drugs.
“Detectives apprehended the two South African and two Seychelles nationals following intelligence reports about their possible involvement in drugs trade,” the paper reported.
NDEA has been seeking the two Seychellois citizens since May 2015 and had issued blue notices issued by Interpol for their arrest.
After the amendment of the Misuse of Drugs Acts in August 2012, offences including manufacturing, importing and trafficking of drugs of an amount in excess of 250 grams carry a potential life sentence.
