(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles' immigration officials have deported two Russian women who were in the island nation illegally.

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Evgeniva Sorodina and Viktura Gorbunova were both served with a Prohibited Immigrant (PI) Notice as their visitor’s permit had expired. They flew out of the country on Saturday.

The police arrested the two Russian nationals last week on suspicion of theft in the vicinity of Eden Island at Roche Caiman, a district on the eastern coast of Mahe, the main island. The two suspects had no fixed address and were living on a boat.

Sorodina and Gorbunova were not the owners of the boat and were suspected to be involved in thefts in the area. The police said after their arrest two cameras suspected as being stolen were found in their possession.

The police said that there is no case against the two women who were handed over to the immigration office for deportation from Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean.
