A greener wardrobe with COCO Seychelles
(Seychelles News Agency) - Products promoting the protection of the environment are fast becoming popular in Seychelles as it follows the world to a greener tomorrow. It is not surprising that there is a local clothing company following suit.
COCO, an eco-conscious clothes brand that designs and produces products inspired by Seychelles, is one company that is using sustainable materials.
T-shirts and beach bags under the brand are made of 100 percent organic cotton. Recycled polyester can be found in the lining of the newly released bags.

The eco beach bags come in four different hand designs – banana leaf, Coco de mer, roots and tortoise. Printed with chemical free inks, the bags come with a price tag of $42 [SCR565].
COCO’s handcrafted T-shirts are available for both adults and children aged one year and above. Currently there are two collections available – the ‘stamp’ and ‘Seychelles Print’ collection. A kid’s T-Shirt costs $23 [SCR315] whereas one for an adult sells at $28 [SCR375].
Packaging is also important for COCO. Premium recycled card boxes are used to pack the T-shirts whereas the packaging of the bags are made from recycled paper cards and natural rope.

Interested clients can order their eco-bag on COCO’s website, where one can choose to have it delivered, shipped or collect it personally at COCO’s warehouse. Another buying option is to make the purchase in various Kreolor outlets andonline.
“Our products are bought by locals and tourists, men and women, young and old. It’s really cool to walk around Victoria, hotels, or beaches and see people wearing your t-shirts or carrying your bags,” said Christian Moise, the marketing coordinator.
The brand name was inspired by the Coco de mer. Founded in 2015, COCO is the brainchild of Kosta Todorovic, who is also the entrepreneur behind Maven, a creative agency.

Moise said that “We felt that the quality of the products representing Seychelles, particularly those which our tourists take home with them after their holidays were not particularly interesting.”
Lack of attention given to the environment, imagination and creativity, were some of the reasons that propelled the launch of the brand.
“We leveraged our team's existing experience in design and production to make products which stand out and make both locals and visitors proud to own by not only aesthetics and quality but also for the care taken in protecting the environment,” said Moise.
Due to high demands, COCO in collaboration with Kreolor is planning to open a shop in Eden Plaza, on Eden Island. They are also envisioning to extend their product range.
