(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles is nothing like the big cities, but locals find a way to unwind when the workweek ends and the weekend arrives. Reporter Salifa Magnan shares her favorite Friday-through-Sunday activities.

1. Catch a wave!

This one is rather obvious. The 115 islands of the Seychelles are surrounded by the Indian Ocean and house hundreds of amazing beaches. An islander just has to grab some yummy snacks, find the most appealing stretch of sand and lay around.

2. Hit the club.

Dress to kill, grab a friend or five and head to a nightlife spot. Want to dance the night away? Hit one of the (admittedly few) nightclubs on the island. My favorite? Tequila Boom night club. Drinking is more your fancy? Then a bar will do the trick. (Just be sure to get a taxi afterwards). I like The Boardwalk Bar at Eden Island.

3. Cruise around the island

It’s Sunday and there’s nothing to do in the house? No problem amigo. Jump in the car and cruise around the island. Don’t forget to grab a few friends or relatives and double the fun. Yes, we’re driving in a circle, but there are some fantastic high mountain spots, too.

4. Chill with friends

The venue and activity is no big deal. It’s the company that counts, right?

5. Family visits

After one busy week of hard work in the office, the weekend is the only time many families on the island have to see each other. A little gossip thrown around plus a drink or two (mind you, lemonade for the kids) equals a stress-free day.

6. Big lunch

The weekend is a mini-holiday. Families stray away from the average weekday fare and prepare a small feast for the family and friends to enjoy. Our family’s favorite weekend dishes? Garlic prawns, sweet and sour chicken and potato and egg salad.Yummy!!!

7. Chores

A bummer, true, but we can’t really escape this one for seven straight days? The ‘S’ days are ideal to get the house squeaky clean (and hope it stays that way).
