St Michel – Seychelles President’s Cup Champion for 12th time

(Seychelles News Agency) - After making it to the first round of the Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup, reigning Seychelles Intelvision Cup Champion, St Michel United, has won the opening match of this year’s football season taking home the President’s Cup, this evening.

The team based at Anse Aux Pins, eastern district of the Seychelles' main island of Mahe, defeated its rival, reigning first division champion Cote D’or, 3-0 to win the President’s Cup title for the twelfth time. All three goals came in the second half of the match attended by a large crowd of football fans.

St Michel is now in high spirit to play its first leg match of the Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup next weekend. This will be against How Mine from Zimbabwe.

This comes after the President’s Cup winner eliminated anther Indian Ocean island team, Madagascar’s ASSM Elgeco Plus in the preliminary round of the competition.


Seychelles first division champion Cote D’or, the Praslin island based team, exited the CAF Champions League after losing to Angola’s Kabuscorp do Palanca in the preliminary round.
