(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles President James Michel has condemned the Abuja bombings, calling them "senseless attacks" in a statement issued this morning.

"In a letter addressed to His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; President James Michel expressed deep sadness and extended the sympathies of the Government and people of Seychelles to the families of the victims as well as to the Government and people of Nigeria in the wake of the tragic bombing in Abuja causing the loss of so many innocent lives," reads the statement.

Michel strongly condemned the bombings as " cruel acts of violence..(...) they only serve to undermine all efforts made to promote peace, tolerance, stability and prosperity of our continent.”

The UN Security Council also condemned on Monday the bomb explosion in a bus station in Nigeria, which killed 71 and injured 124 others.
