(Seychelles News Agency) - The two winners of a Brighton-based model talent competition, Next Hot Model UK, recently spent six days in the Seychelles for their first professional photo shoot. Daisy Boots and Robert Loydell, who won the competition in June this year, had their portfolios shot around the tropical islands of the Seychelles, an archipelago of 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Sherin Naiken, was a guest judge at the competition held in Brighton on June 6 and helped to decide the two winners out of 22 young aspiring model finalists.

As one of the main sponsors of the Next Hot Model UK event, this will be the second year running that the winners have been brought to this idyllic location for their portfolio shoots.

Armed with their new portfolios and represented by PRM Modelling Agency, Daisy and Robert will now venture into the world of high fashion to look for work on the catwalks and in fashion magazines.

According to a press release from the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Daisy and Robert had their portfolio photographs taken on the picturesque islands of Mahé, Praslin, Silhouette and La Digue, at beaches, historical sites and hotels, as well as around the capital city of Victoria.

The team included a photographer, a stylist and a hair and make-up artist, and the shoot was directed by Simon D’Arcy Abbott, who told ministry officials that he regarded the shoot as a great success.

He also said he was touched by the warmth of the Seychellois people.

“There’s a simplicity and tranquillity about the islands which makes it perfect and ideal for such projects,” he said.

Touched by the generous hospitality and precious moments spent in the Seychelles, Abbott has created a Facebook page to recount his experiences of the Seychelles and posts pictures of the places he has visited.

STB CEO Sherin Naiken has thanked the Next Hot Model UK team for choosing Seychelles for the photo-shoot.

“It is a pleasure for us to work with Next Hot Model again and we look forward to benefit from the visibility that would come with it,” she said.
