Former Seychelles MP in hospital after being hit by a boat
(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles police has reported that a 54 year old man was admitted to the Seychelles hospital on the archipelago’s main island of Mahé today after being hit by a boat while on the second most populated island of Praslin.
According to the police statement issued earlier today the man was swimming in the sea near the D’hevatara Hotel at St. Joseph on Praslin when the incident happened.
“The victim has broken his right leg and suffered cuts on his arm and right thumb,” read the statement.
The incident was reported at around 8:45 am local time.
Contacted by SNA the Seychelles police spokesperson Jean Toussaint confirmed that the 54 year old man who was hit is Jean Francois Ferari from the Au Cap district on the eastern coast of Mahé.
Ferari’s sister Pauline Ferrari also confirmed on her Facebook account that her brother had suffered a broken femur and a broken arm.
Jean Francois Ferrari is a former member of the Seychelles parliament for the central Mahé district of Mont Fleuri for the ‘Seychelles National Party’ (SNP).
According to the police statement, a 20 year old man who was handling the fiberglass boat was placed in police custody. An investigation is ongoing.
