4 Seychellois designers eager to break through at Seychelles Fashion Week
(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles is getting ready to welcome the second edition of the Seychelles Fashion Week which will take place November 28 to December 1.
The fashion collections will be presented from a record of 25 designers from at least 10 countries. In a series of articles, SNA is presenting the designers who will be showcasing their works at the fashion week.
This week’s Buzz looks at Seychellois designers who will have their creations presented on the catwalk.
Designer: Johanna Didon
Fashion has been an interest for Didon since the age of 12 when she started sewing to help her mother financially. A teacher by profession, she launched her brand -- ‘Katiti’ -- in 2017 and has since the chance to get international exposure at the Accra Fashion Week in 2018 and most recently at the Africa Fashion Week London held in August this year.

Designer: Santasha Hoareau
Known for her wedding and bridesmaid dresses, Hoareau has had the opportunity to work with such professionals as French fashion designer Cecila Sebaoun. Her creations have also graced international catwalks such as the New York Fashion Week in 2011, and they have been worn by local beauty queens.

Designer: Darren Esther
The 21-year-old hailing from Praslin, the second-largest island of Seychelles, is until now a new name in the fashion industry of Seychelles, having launched his brand late last year. Targeting young and outgoing adults in his age group, Esther designs pieces he describes as sexy, curve-hugging, and that shows some legs or cleavage.

Organisation: The Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD)
The institute, which promotes quality training and innovative thinking among the visual art community, will be presenting a collection at the fashion week, the creation of which is a mix of ideas coming from the students.
